How Chance The Rapper is helping the homeless
Chicago magazine named him one of five Chicagoans of the Year and for his latest endeavour, Chance The Rapper is aiming to help the homeless in his hometown. Teaming up with the Empowerment Plan a Detroit based non-profit organization, their goal is to produce 1,000 EMPWR coats by raising $100,000.
What’s so special about EMPWR coats you ask? “The EMPWR coat is a water-resistant and self-heating jacket, which can transform into a sleeping bag, or be worn as an over-the-shoulder bag”. December and January are the coldest months in Chicago and approximately 7% of homeless individuals die from hypothermia. So far $53,086 has been raised and there are a number of perks you can win if you too decide to donate. To find out more about the cause visit Crowdrise.com.
